Village Environmental Development Society (VEDS) is a Non-profitable, non-governmental, Social Service voluntary organization. It has been working since 1990 and registered in 1995, under the provisions of societies registration act XXI of 1860 with registered No.1219. Registered under Foreign Contribution Regulation Act 1976 with Ministry of Home Affairs Government of India for receiving financial aid from overseas organizations, (FCRA) No. 010120215 in the year 2005 and also registered under section 12(A) and Exempted under section 80(G) of Income Tax Act 1961 Government of India for charity status in the year 2010. The organization was formed with the co-operation of dedicated social workers and enthusiastic service minded group with a view to help the needy rural and urban poor community and destitute through various developmental activities. The main aim of the organisation is to develop those who are disadvantaged educationally, economically, socially and culturally through self-help and self-governing collective development activities. In short “TO HELP THEM TO HELP THEMSELVES” VEDS has been working for the integrated socio-economic development of marginalized and downtrodden sections of community particularly to solve the women and child issues in rural areas of Ananthapur, Guntur, Chittoor, Prakasam and Nellore Districts of Andhra Pradesh since its inception. Major initiatives have been launched in the areas of income generation and social empowerment targeted at women and girls. Activities implemented by the organization on community mobilization projects have not merely focused on generating awareness among beneficiaries but have included an action component as well in terms of guiding them at every step and providing them with an outlet to realize their latent capabilities. VEDS has a Governing Board. The President, Secretary and the Treasurer are office bearers of the organization. The Governing board consists of 7 members who are passionate social workers with 4 female and 3 male members who have vast grass root experience in rural development sector.
